"Bauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations."- www.bauermedia.co.uk
I would choose Bauer to distribute my magazine under, as the media products they have already suit my type of magazine, also they don't have an urban magazine which means that they could branch out into a new audience.
They publish Q magazine which is loosely what my magazine is based on but an urban music version of it and this has a circulation figure for the second half of 2010 of 88,240 and "average single copy subscription sales of 23,306." also earning the title as " UK’s best-selling music monthly magazine”. This magazine is doing extremely well for a business that is supposedly in decline because of the Internet.
Again this is shown in the sales of MOJO magazine which is even more at a circulation figure of 94,617! This shows that Bauer are a big company that are able to keep the status of magazines as high as possible. The description my music magazine also is classy enough to be held underneath this media group and advertisements can be held in Q magazine therefore giving it some credibility already in an already prestigious magazine. They also have many other gossip magazines which it can be advertised in. They also distribute in 15 countries which means they could expand the magazine worldwide and advertise on TV and radio using media convergence and horizontal distribution.
Another way of expansion that Bauer media are looking into is buying The BBC worldwide magazine publications, as the BBC have been told because they are a public service, they shouldn't be seen to have private publications and make revenue from the so they have to sell all the publications. Which is a major hindrance for The BBC as the majority of the money from the publications help run the BBC and expenditure for the production of the BBC as a company comes from those publications. Their publications include some of the biggest selling magazines in the UK E.g. Top Gear, Radio times and gardeners world. These particular magazines make so much money as they are aimed more at the ABC1 audience classification that has money to spend on these magazines. This would contribute significantly to Bauer's revenue. Also by them showing interest this means that they may want to diversify their product range and seeing as they don't have a black music magazine they may be interested in including such a magazine as mine.
