Analysising and comparing to my peliminary task , my magazine layout , technique and just general production has improved vastly:
If you look at my preliminary task, I didn’t really use a range of fonts or colours. Although my main image is quite representative of my audience and directly appeals to them, it is probably the only really good thing about the magazine. The colours aren’t really co-ordinated and don’t really represent what a magazine should look like. It looks slightly messy and not really well thought out with colour schemes and technical codes like there is no bar code or pricing on my magazine. The strap line is hardly visible and the colours I’ve used aren’t really conjoining with the magazine as a theme. My Magazine front cover challenges all of those mistakes and looks professional and well thought out. It also represents the magazine a little more. In regards to both photo's although they are representative of the audiences reading them, the college magazine image wasn’t edited too much and I didn’t really have the proper skills to edit it and the knowledge of other skills and forms and conventions of magazines.
I learnt a lot from the time between the preliminary task and the music magazine. I didn't do as much research and planning for my college magazine as it was more about just getting to learn to use the technologies on InDesign.
On InDesign and Photoshop I learnt how to over lay an image over the title, in my preliminary task the title had to go around the image, but in my music magazine I decided to put the subjects head over the logo as this is a common trait of magazines, I selected the subjects head with the quick selection tool and copied to new layer. Then I decided to delete the background layer and saved it as a PNG file, then pasted it over the logo on InDesign. This is professional and was well done.
I also researched a lot and planned my music magazine extremely well as I wanted to make it professional , compared to the college magazine which didn’t have much research at all and just went off of some other college magazine layouts.
I have made many large developments from my college magazine to music magazine but I still made some mistakes in my work such as, one of my titles on my front cover was in lower case caps. And my feature has a few spelling mistakes and the text sometimes had breaks at the end of the columns, I should have proof read it more and made sure it was perfect.
But overall I believe my Music magazine is a great success and has been constructed very carefully.
